About the Event

Living with a Mental Health Condition: Insights from Personal and Family Experience presented in partnership with NAMI Spokane

Session Description

The presentation will introduce attendees to NAMI and NAMI Spokane, highlighting NAMI Spokane’s mission and local impact. A NAMI Spokane representative will invite our panelists to introduce themselves and will pose thought-provoking questions that will prompt panelists to share their unique perspectives. The panelists consist of NAMI Spokane program volunteers who are living with a mental health condition as well as program volunteers who have a loved one living with a mental health condition. They’ll share the ups and downs of their mental health journeys and offer insights into strategies that have significantly aided them on their mental health journeys. Attendees will also have the opportunity to actively participate in a Q&A session. Overall, this presentation aims to illuminate the power of supportive communities and individual strategies in navigating mental health challenges. It aims to foster an enriching experience for all participants, promoting understanding and empathy. 

Learning Objectives: 

  • Participants will gain a deeper understanding of NAMI and NAMI Spokane’s mission and impact as well as how to utilize NAMI’s programming around mental health support and education in their personal and professional lives. 
  • This session will help participants to explore diverse mental health management strategies in their personal and professional interactions, drawing insights from panelists’ lived experiences with strategies including therapy, medication, peer support, and community programs. 
  • Participants will gain a deeper insight into the challenges their clients and clients’ families face, the impact of those challenges, and the significance of their own personal growth journey through listening to and engaging in Q&A with panelists
